“Rooted in Freedom, Growing Our Community.”
Twenty Years
In New Hampshire.
Nine In Goffstown.
I've been proud to call New Hampshire home for more than 20 years. For the past nine, my family and I have lived right here in Goffstown — in our 1890's farmhouse, where the floors creak and the garden never stops growing.
My husband Israel and I have been married for 20 years, and together we're raising two teenagers here. Like many parents, our lives are full of school schedules, activities, and the everyday joys and challenges of family life.
Israel serves on the Goffstown Budget Committee, where he's working hard to make a difference for our community and ensure that taxpayer dollars are used responsibly. Our shared commitment to service and community involvement is at the heart of our family life.
Where I Stand
Freedom that's lived, not lectured. Schools that answer to parents. Taxes that stay off your paycheck. Here's the fight I'm bringing to Concord.
Protecting Our Kids
From safe schools to strong communities, our children deserve a future built on opportunity and security. I am a strong supporter of School Choice because every child learns differently, and parents should have the final say in what kind of education is best for their kids. At the same time, I recognize that more than 80% of New Hampshire students attend our public schools, and those schools must be funded and well-rounded to ensure every child has access to a quality education.
Protecting Personal Freedom
Government should serve the people, not the other way around. I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and I will always defend our right to keep and bear arms. I also believe deeply in protecting personal property rights, because no one should have to fight endless battles with government red tape or local overreach to enjoy and protect their own land. Personal freedom means the right to defend ourselves, our families, and our property without interference.
Supporting Mental Health
Too many families are struggling in silence. As someone who has faced my own mental health challenges, and as a parent of a neurodivergent child, I understand how important real support and resources are. I'll work to expand access to care and make sure no family feels left behind.
No Income Tax. No Sales Tax. Not Now, Not Ever.
Shanun Carey will vote against any attempt to impose an income or sales tax in New Hampshire — full stop. Concord has floated these ideas before under the guise of property tax relief, and Shanun will be a hard no every single time it comes to the floor. New Hampshire's tax advantage is a feature, not a problem to be solved, and she will protect it.
Education Spending Accountability
Shanun Carey will push to redirect education funding away from bloated administrative overhead and back into classrooms, demanding full transparency in how Goffstown and New Hampshire school districts spend every taxpayer dollar. She will oppose any new state spending formulas that shift the burden onto New Hampshire property taxpayers, who already carry the weight of funding education without a broad-based income tax. Shanun will also work to expand Education Freedom Accounts so Goffstown families have real choices about where their children learn, rather than being locked into a one-size-fits-all system.
A Home,
And A Homestead.
At home, we've worked hard to turn our farmhouse into both a home and a homestead. We keep chickens, tend our orchard, and are always expanding our gardens. When I'm not working on the house or cheering on our kids, I enjoy time with family, neighbors and friends.
Being a parent has shaped the way I see the world and strengthened my desire to protect opportunities for the next generation. My own experiences with mental health, and raising a neurodivergent child, have given me understanding and empathy for the struggles many families face.
New Hampshire is where my family has built our life, and we cherish the character, beauty, and freedom that make it special. It's not just where we live — it's where we're rooted, and where I want to continue raising my children and contributing to the community we call home.
Goffstown Deserves
A Voice That Shows Up
Service isn't a slogan in our house — it's the dinner table conversation. This campaign is about carrying that same commitment from our farmhouse to the State House: showing up, listening hard, and voting like your family's future depends on it. Because it does.
It Starts
At Town Hall.
Every real campaign starts the same way — a stack of paperwork, a walk into the town offices, and a promise to the people who live down the road from you.
From there it's porches, ball fields, church halls, and coffee shops. If you see me around Goffstown, stop me. Tell me what's working and what isn't. That's the whole job.
